What Are The Ingredients Used in Derm Exclusive?

1. Argireline – according to Wikipedia is:

Acetyl hexapeptide-3 is a synthetic anti-wrinkle cosmetics ingredient. It is a peptide which is a fragment of SNAP-25, a substrate of Botulinum toxin (Botox). Acetyl hexapeptide-3 is marketed as Argireline by the Barcelona-based research laboratory Lipotec.”

Is a powerful substance used to decrease the aging aspect by reducing deep wrinkles around eyes and forehead. This has been developed recently and although ‘in vitro’ and ‘in vivo’ tests have been made, results have not been published yet for double blinded trials.

What Argireline especially does – when applied to any specific skin area –  inhibits muscle reactions such as movement or contraction. This helps in relaxing the skin.

2. Myoxinol – is called “a vegetable alternative to Botox”

Hard to believe, isn’t it?…

It has a powerful anti-wrinkle activity. I found a very elaborate article that says:

“Responding to market demand for mild, natural alternatives to botulic toxin, Laboratoires Sérobiologiques have developed Myoxinol® LS 9736**, a patented active ingredient for topical application, displaying anti-aging activity.”

“As its activity is not limited to relieving the mechanical formation of wrinkles, Myoxinol® offers more cosmetic anti-aging benefits than botulic toxin injections. The anti-free radical/antioxidant activity of Myoxinol® also slows extrinsic biological aging of cells and dermal macro-molecules, preserving skin’s elasticity and delivering long term anti-aging benefits.”

“Myoxinol®, a natural complex of oligopeptides obtained from the seeds of Hibiscus esculentus, offers more than just wrinkle reduction. In addition to inhibition of muscle cell contraction, demonstrated with an innovative in vitro model, Myoxinol® also protects cells and dermal macromolecules from oxidative stress. Myoxinol® is a comprehensive, patented anti-aging active, suitable for a gentle topical treatment, effective against both mechanical and biological modes of wrinkle formation.”

“The anti-wrinkle activity of Myoxinol® is demonstrated by these clinical results: a 26% reduction of wrinkle depth (mean value versus placebo) after a 3-week treatment by topical applications of an emulsion containing 1% Myoxinol®.”

So, its efficiency was demonstrated by clinical results. The verdict: it helps in wrinkle reduction! Even better that Botox, because is less toxic!

3. Matrixyl 3000 – a powerful peptide for anti aging & lifting

Is a trademark formula developed by Sederma company, and later on used bu many other companies that choose to incorporate this potent anti aging ingredient in their anti aging skin care products. It has an anti-wrinkle and lifting effect.

What exactly is Matrixyl and it and how it works?

“Launched by Sederma in 2000, Matrixyl was the first member of the Matrixyl range. Then, in order to satisfy the increasing anti-ageing market, Sederma launched in 2003 Matrixyl 3000 based on two peptides: a palmitoyl tripeptide and a palmitoyl tetrapeptide and in 2012, a different palmitoyl tripeptide under the trade name Matrixyl synthe’6.”

“By activating the neosynthesis of extracellular matrix macromolecules, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 provides an anti-wrinkle effect. Studies (in vitro and in vivo) demonstrating the anti-wrinkle efficacy of this peptide have been conducted and published by Sederma and by independent organisations.”

4. Glycolic Acid – often used in skin care for peeling effect

We learn that is it used as a chemical peeling substance:

Glycolic acid (or hydroxyacetic acid) is the smallest α-hydroxy acid (AHA).”

“Due to its excellent capability to penetrate skin, glycolic acid finds applications in skin care products, most often as a chemical peel performed by a dermatologist, plastic surgeon or licensed aesthetician in concentrations of 20 to 70% or at-home kits in lower concentrations between 10 and 20%.”

“Glycolic acid is used to improve the skin’s appearance and texture. It may reduce wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and improve many other skin conditions, including actinic keratosis, hyperkeratosis, and seborrheic keratosis. Once applied, glycolic acid reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together. This allows the stratum corneum to be exfoliated, exposing live skin cells. Highly purified grades of glycolic acid are commercially available for personal care applications.”

5. Ultrasomes – enzymes that identify & target cellular UV damage

I couldn’t find much detailed information about them, but this site says:

“Ultrasomes are UV-endonuclease enzymes encapsulated in multilamellar liposomes. Endonuclease is prepared from Micrococcus luteus. The liposomes (200 nanometers) are formed from pure and 100% natural egg phospholipids.

Natural DNA repair activity for humans is facilitated by endonuclease, which is the enzyme in Ultrasomes. Endonuclease recognizes UV damage and is reported to accelerate its repair four-fold. Ultrasomes also protect the immune system by repairing UV-DNA damage and reducing the expression of TNF .“

6. Collaxyl – an anti aging peptide reducing the depth of wrinkles

It seems to do the following:

  • Rapidly decreases the appearance of skin wrinkles
  • Enhances epidermal regeneration, ex vivo
  • Enhances protein synthesis (collagen types I and III), in vitro
  • Boosts dermal-epidermal junction key proteins (laminin-5, integrins, collagen IV), in vitro
  • Stimulates epidermal differentiation markers (keratin, filaggrin), in vitro.

So, there you have it. Amazing powerful ingredients, peptides that were proven to help fighting the aging process, helping your skin to fight wrinkles and some of them offering also a lifting effect.

With such powerful ingredients, why a skin care product would not deliver results?…
